PECKHAM ASYLUM WEDDING

When two Peckham locals decide to tie the knot, the Peckham Asylum Chapel is the first place that springs to mind - and for good reason! Miranda and Sam didn’t have to go far to declare their love in a beautiful building which fit their vibe so perfectly. As a London Wedding Photographer, The Peckham Asylum Chapel is a bucket list venue. As it turn out, Miranda and Sam were also my dream clients and their wedding was an absolute blast!

GETTING READY:

Miranda and her beautiful team of bridesmaids got married at their nearby home in Peckham. Their flat was sweet and simple but with the taste and style and style of true Londoners. The bridesmaids were making flower crowns out of gypsophila as I arrived and my gosh they did a great job!! Miranda got her dress from ASOS and it looked like it was made for her. The girls got ready in comfortable excitement and we headed off the Peckham Asylum Chapel.

THE CHAPEL:

The Peckham Asylum Chapel is awesome to say the least. Built in 1826 and bombed during WW2, it’s certainly a venue with history and soul. Now run by Maverick Projects, the space is now used for weddings, events, exhibitions and as a filming and photography location. Every wedding at this epic venue is unique as they really allow you to make it your own. Miranda and Sam lush plants and floral arrangements from The Fresh Flower Company and a string quartet playing while Miranda walked down the aisle and through cocktail hour.

FRANKS & THE STREETS OF PECKHAM:

One of the first things Miranda and Sam told me about their wedding plans was that they wanted to get some photographs at their favourite spot in London - Franks Cafe. Little did they know, Franks is also my favourite drinking establishment in London. We couldn’t have been a better match! Unfortunately Franks doesn’t allow professional photography on their premises, but I did manage to get some photographs on the steps and streets of Peckham. These photos are adored by Miranda and Sam as we really captured the South London vibe which was such an important part of their wedding day.

THE LORDSHIP PUB

Here’s where the day really took off. I don’t think I fully realised until this point of the day, that I was surrounded by the most stylish group of hipsters I’d ever seen. Along with amazing outfits and the best people watching of my life, they were all so lovely and welcoming! It wasn’t hard to get involved and get some epic dance floor shots as the night raged on. In the words of the bride - We started the day in a Chapel and ended it in a Chicken Shop - Best day ever.

TESTIMONIAL:

“Thank you SO much for your amazing work on the day - all our guests loved you and we had so many lovely comments about you on the day - I loved the fact you took so many photos but it didn't take up the day and distract from having fun!

We are so grateful for your hard work, and the results - the images are all lovely, and we love how they've been edited - one of our favourites is the one walking up the steps to Franks - you really managed to make the most of the locations and we've been recommending you to everyone.” - MIRANDA & SAM
