PORT HILLS COUPLE SHOOT

Charlotte and Alex met in a public library. After some confusion over directions and running into each other for the second time in the lift, Alex took fate’s hint and asked Charlotte for her number. Four years and a beautiful ring later, they’re tying the knot! They're getting by married in Birmingham in August, but we're visiting New Zealand for Charlotte's best friend Kate's wedding. Kate is an old friend of mine and I had the privilege of being her wedding photographer too! So while Charlotte and Alex were in New Zealand they asked if I could do their engagement shoot in beautiful Christchurch.

I'd only been to Christchurch once before but had heard the rebuild was looking beautiful. However when Alex Charlotte and I started their Christchurch engagement session, I was blown away by the beauty of the area. We started at the remote Christchurch beach called Taylor's Mistake. It was rugged, cute and beautiful all at the same time. It's unapologetic natural NZ beauty is astounding and the cute beach houses made it quaint and comforting. The perfect place for an Christchurch engagement shoot.

We then decided to take a trip up the Port Hills and see if we could catch the sunset from up there. By now, the evening fog was rolling in, making the sights more and more stunning as we drive the narrow windy roads up to the summit. With limited reception and none of us being locals, we got lost more than once! However every unexpected corner brought a new surprise. We found this view at one point - a split line of cloud in the distance that meant I had stop for a photograph.

We finally reached the summit as the sun was moments from setting. It was More magestic than I could have imagined. The cloud was rolling past us fast and thick, it was windy and freezing and beautiful. We hurriedly took some photographs and created a stunning Christchurch engagement shoot in the thick of nature. I couldn't be more chuffed!
